Standing Screens of Flowers and Birds of Four Seasons
Title
Standing Screens of Flowers and Birds of Four Seasons
Description
This is one set of six-fold standing screens from a pair. The original pair was used to depict the flora and fauna symbols attributed with the four seasons. Kano Eitoku used paints, ink, and gold leaf to depict peonies, paulownias, bamboo, a pair of phoenixes, and other small birds. The composition is horizontal. However, the composition is not without energy. The dives of the smaller birds in the sky and the dynamic positions of the phoenixes make the composition energized. This image is included in this website for the Phoenix Composed Exhibition.
